24% violent films in Kannada in 2007
19th Oct 2008 - 10:50am
Out of the 127 films censored by the Bangalore Regional
Censor the 24 percent of films are violent films. They are mindless and
inconsequential films. When one Jogi is made 15 films follow and get ditched.
Like that one Mungaru Male is made 15 similar films fall flat. This is
Chandrasekhar Regional Censor Head speaking to the packed audience at
Rejoyz Digital Auditorium in Malleswaram on Sunday evening at the 'Samudayadatta
Cinema' – the Ekalavya Sanchara of Baraguru Ramachandrappa concept.
The Bele and Kale is good in Kannada. Till October 14th
2008 we have censored 145 films (around 10 might be other languages) and
30 films more would add up to 175 films in 2008. I have heard about the
project of 14 days for first copy and one director three films were censored.
There are two kinds of torture the censor members are
facing – the Machchu and Longu weapons doing major role in cinemas and
how to sit for two and half hours to watch poor quality of Kannada films
is the major handicap we are facing said Chandrasekhar. There is no originality
and novelty in Kannada films is a fact to be accepted. This is the time
for cross over cinemas and high time the producers think in this direction
informed the censor chief Chandrasekhar.
