First and Last film - B.K.Srinivas
6th Sep 2008 - 11:30am
The
height of interest and admiration producer B.K.Srinivas of ‘Mandakini’
has turned like the popular song ‘Mandakiniye Nee Sudabeda Thadiye…. The
first experience of this producer who invested over Rs.3 crores on the
project is almost burnt to ashes. He has made an alarm call to the producers
who are coming with lot of hopes to Kannada cinema.
The Kannada cinema industry has lost a producer is not
an exaggeration. Lost a humble and simple producer with a huge interest
is appropriate. He has invested his money and not answerable to anyone
only on this aspect.
What about director Ramesh Surve who killed his hopes
and Regional Censor Board that thrashed his film giving ‘A’ certificate.
Surve
did not take prior permission from producer Srinivas in going to the revising
committee when the film ‘Mandakini’ was given A certificate in its first
viewing and that was agreed by the producer after repeated requests going
in vain.
Meanwhile sitting next to him producer Srinivas exposed
director Ramesh Surve of his careless statements. We give you a sample
of what Surve has said to the censor chief Chandrasekhar.
In
case the censor chief does not give clean censor to my film Mandakini
I will see to it that he will be removed from his position within 24 hours.
Second careless and irresponsible statement of director Surve is that
– I will pile up a huge slippers in front of the theatre and ask censor
chief Chandrasekhar to stand one side and I will stand on the other side.
If the audiences feel I am wrong let them hit me from the slippers. If
they feel Censor is wrong let them hit the censor chief. We will give
you introduction of culture in which Ramesh Surve had grown up. The heroine
in the cinema in a temple when asked to go out not spoiling the sanctity
she replies to the priest – What culture you have – you do Abhisekha to
woman goddess statue and dress the idol. What morality you have – your
woman god also undergo the natural process in the month. The censor has
objected to it.
Now it is left for you to decide on the strength and
weakness of this film at the theatres.
